Award-winning Birr florist to give Christmas demonstration
World-renowned florist Richard Haslam will return to his home town of Birr for a very special Christmas Flower Demonstration next week. On Thursday, November 27, Mr Haslam will demonstrate his finely-honed skills in the art of flower arranging in preparation for Christmas in the Marian Hall at 8pm with all proceeds from the night benefiting the restoration of St Brendan"s Church. A native of Birr, Richard is a world-renowned award-winning florist. Starting with horticulture in 1973, he progressed to floristry, serving apprenticeships in Dublin and Paris. The influence of continental design is evident in all his work and his innovative and contemporary talent is popular worldwide, in countries as diverse as Japan and Russia. In August 2006 he designed the Birr Flower Festival, entitled "Songs of Praise", in aid of Offaly Hospice and The Church Organ Fund. The highlight of the Flower Festival was, for many, the demonstrations given by Richard, in his own inimitable and informative fashion. Following on from that success, Richard demonstrated the art of flower arranging in November of last year and has once again agreed to return to Birr to spend an evening doing what he loves, arranging flowers, in the presence of his many friends and admirers of his talent. Cheese and wine will be served during the evening, and of course, there will be a raffle at the end. All the arrangements that Richard creates will be included in this raffle, allowing some lucky members of the audience to take home a wonderful sample of his fabulous creations. The Christmas Flower Demonstration will be held in the Marian Hall this Thursday, November 27, at 8pm. Admission is €15 and all profits will go towards the restoration of the pinnacles on St Brendan"s Church. Tickets will available in advance and also at the door on the night. All in all, this flower arranging demonstration by Richard Haslam promises to be an event not to be missed by all who love flowers, gardening and all things beautiful and will be a wonderful way to begin the Christmas season!
