Coffey rules out full time manager role

Offaly football boss Tom Coffey has made it clear that he is not taking the post permanently. In the wake of Richie Connor"s resignation, Coffey was appointed as manager, with Phil O"Reilly and Vinny Claffey as selectors. They will take charge of the Offaly team for this Sunday"s National Football League match against Longford in Tullamore (2.30pm). In addition, the trio were approved to sit on a committee along with county board chairman Pat Teehan and county secretary Martin Boland to propose a new senior management following Richie Connor"s resignation. O"Reilly, who is the current Tullamore senior football manager, and Claffey have also ruled themselves out of the running for the manager"s job on a full-time basis. Commenting on last Monday night"s county board meeting, Coffey said: 'The meeting sanctioned that we are a caretaker management package for this weekend. It"s a 100 per cent caretaker job for this week only. We have been put on a committee to select a manager. I am committed to Rhode for this year and for how long after that I don"t know.' Stephen Darby and Laz Molloy are seen as possible replacements for Connor, but they are currently committed to managing club sides Carbury (Kildare) and Tyrrellspass (Westmeath) respectively.
