Tullamore student to participate in business management game

Tullamore student Niall Fitzmaurice is to participate in the 23rd Irish Hospitality Institute (IHI) Business Management Game in the Galway Bay Hotel on March 8 and 9. Niall will compete in the competition on the Dublin Institute of Technology BSC in International Hospitality Management team. DIT, along with teams representing Cork IT, Galway Mayo IT, Letterkenny IT Waterford IT, Dundalk IT, Griffith College Dublin, University of Ulster, the Trainee Manager Development Programmeand Shannon College, will battle it out for the prize. Judging, under the chairmanship of Shane Cookman of the Fylan Collection group of hotels, will take place over the two days. Three teams will be short listed to make a final presentation before an invited audience prior to the announcement of the overall winners. The winning team and its tutor will receive a three-day trip to Champagne Taittinger"s historic Château and Vineyards in Reims, North East France. This prize is presented by wine importers, Febvre and Company Limited. Included in the prize, as well as flights and accommodation, is a guided tour of the famous chalk cellars under Saint-Nicaise monastery, dinner each night at the Champagne Taittinger residences and lunch at Château de la Marquetterie. The trip is set to be, not only educational for these future hospitality industry professionals, but also most enjoyable as the winning team will get to sample the legendary hospitality of the Taittinger family.
