Good weather for St Vincent de Paul charity outing

There was an entry of over 250 representing 20 clubs for the annual St Vincent de Paul charity outing at Tullamore which was played in excellent weather conditions last weekend. At the presentation Pat Marron, representing the local Conference of St Vincent de Paul, thanked the Club for the use of the facilities, the sponsor Seamus Daly for his generosity over the last number of years, Ray Ryan, Captain elect, for organising and running the competition and all the players who took part for their contribution towards the less needy in our society. The format was fourball and despite handicaps reducing to three quarters the scoring was still very hot. The overall winners with a fantastic score of 48 pts were President Martin Dunne (10) and Frank Monaghan (15). Holmpatrick Cup Next weekend the Holmpatrick Cup, another fourball competition, takes place and this is sponsored by Walsh & Walsh Financial Consultants Ltd. The winners qualify for the regional final later in the year. The Lumley Cup sponsored by J A Lumley & is traditionally the first singles of the year and this has Golfer of the Year points going to the winners and it takes place on the weekend of the 28th and 29th. Barton Cup The first team out this year looks like the Barton Cup team as the match against Esker Hills has been arranged for Sunday March 29th. The pairings are Sean Flanagan & John Hopkins; Catch Flanagan & Larry Lynam and Fergal Scally & Darragh O"Toole at home and in Esker are Eoin Flanagan & Denis Guinan and Larry Larkin & Joe Feely.
