West Offaly's Strongest Man

This Saturday March 21st is D-day for the strongmen of West Offaly as they lock horns to decide who is the supreme strength athlete in the West Offaly area. The competition gets underway at 11am at Ferbane GAA Gym with the up and coming strength athletes of the future in the novice section first out. Middleweights are next up with a close fight to the finish anticipated between Clonfanlough"s lean and mean Padraic Kelly, Doon"s hard and hungry Miko Kelly, Belmont"s all rounder and competition dark horse Gerry Egan and Cloghan"s hot young prospect Declan Cooper. High Street powerhouse Gerry Murray is very much in the running for honours if fit. The heavyweights will then cross swords with Belmont"s muscle man Niall Mannion and rugby player/hurler Jason Clancy going head to head with Ferbane"s athletic Brendan Gleeson and kickboxer Keith Kenna together with UK strongman and man mountain Shane Priestly. Blood sweat and tears will be shed by all to secure the prestigious title of West Offaly"s strongest man. Trophy presentation will take place in Hiney"s on this Saturday night 21st March. Contact the Gym on 087 6852095. ABU DHABI MAN Congratulations to David Kenny on winning an Interprovincial medal with Leinster hurlers in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
