Eden girl to represent Offaly in RTÉ Ice Starsearch

Edenderry girl Rachael Conaghan, who is nine years old, will represent Offaly in RTÉ's Ice Starsearch on Tuesday, November 10. Rachael has already passed through two rounds of auditions and has secured a place in round one of the competition, in which there are 36 acts in total. To guarantee her place in round two of the competition, Rachael will be looking for the people of Offaly to vote for her. Rachael has been singing since she was seven years of age, and has won first prize, two years in succession, at the Navan Choral Festival. Rachael loves singing very much, and hopes that she can make singing her career in years to come. She is a member of 'Talented Kids' agency, and treks all the way to Kilcullen for her weekly classes with Maureen Ward, and she also plays violin and takes lessons with Mrs Anne Delargy in Celbridge. Her mother Anne helps with her piano studies. For round one of the competition, Rachael will sing Do-Re-Me from the 'Sound of Music'. The lucky winner of Starsearch will receive a holiday voucher €3,000, and a recording session worth €3,000 also. Rachael vows that if she were to win the competition that all proceeds of her single would be given to Venture Malawi project 2009, run by St John of God Brothers. Rachael will appear on Starsearch at 4.40pm on Tuesday, November 10. To give Rachael your No 1 vote, please log on to rte.ie/theden/ice anytime from November 10 at 5pm. Voting lines close on Friday, November 13.
