Ryan Sheridan to play The Thatch

One of Ireland's up-and-coming stars will take to the stage at The Thatch in Rahan next month. Monaghan man Ryan Sheridan will come to Tullamore as part of his biggest Irish tour to date on February 17. Ryan is currently in the studio recording tracks for his as yet untitled debut album. His debut single 'Jigsaw' has been one of the biggest airplay hits of recent months; and the follow up will be released just ahead of the album later in the spring. Ryan spent time gigging in Manhattan as a teenager and then formed a three-piece rock band in Glasgow in 2004. He returned home for a time to run a pub, but an urge to play in public again saw Ryan back down in Dublin in 2009. He hooked up with Polish percussionist Artur Graczyk, an old friend from the dying embers of Shiversaint. Embracing the freedom of movement created by acoustic guitar and cajon (or crate to our non Spanish readers) the pair hit the streets of Dublin to eak out a living. While entertaining the human traffic of Temple Bar, Ryan and Artur were spotted by his current management team. This led to a showcase at The Academy, jam-packed with the great and the good of the Dublin media mafia, and a subsequent record deal with leading Irish independent label Rubyworks. After a busy summer of gigging, including spots at Oxegen, Electric Picnic and Benicassim in Spain; Ryan played some high profile Irish gigs with Rodrigo y Gabriela, Mark Lanegan and Wallis Bird. His debut single 'Jigsaw' was released in September, and was an immediate hit at Irish radio and on iTunes. He played his first headline tour around Ireland in December and is set to follow this up with his most extensive headline tour to date. Catch him in these small venues while you still can!
