The President's visit to Moneygall step-by-step

14.57: President Barack Obama and his wife First Lady Michelle Obama alight from Marine One in St Flannan's Park just outside Moneygall. 15.10: President Obama and his wife get out of the car that brought them from St Flannan's Park to Moneygall village and are greeted by Cathaoirleach of Offaly County Council Danny Owens, Mayor of North Tipperary Council John Kennedy and President Obama's eighth cousin Henry Healy from Moneygall. 15.12: Henry Healy gets a hug from Michelle Obama, who then chats to Danny Owens while President Obama has a conversation with Henry. 15.13: President and Michelle Obama begin their extended Moneygall walkabout. One villager shouts out: "Welcome home Mr President, you're very welcome". 15.14: President Obama leans down to kiss a little girl from Moneygall, who's instructed "Kiss Obama". There are smiles all round as the President and his wife try to shake as many hands as possible, while villagers try to capture their historic moment with cameras and phones. 15.16: President Obama picks up the first of three babies in Moneygall, a little girl dressed in pink. 15.17: President Obama hands back the baby, who didn't make any strange or cry when held by the President. 15.20: Michelle Obama gets her turn and is given a baby boy dressed in blue. 15.21: The baby boy is passed back via President Obama. Another child will have a great story to tell in later life. 15.27: US Security tell the crowds to "Back up" insistently. 15.28: President Obama moves across Moneygall's Main Street and goes into his ancestor Falmouth Kearney's homestead. 15.30: After shaking more hands Michelle Obama catches up with her husband in his ancestral homestead. 15.32: The Obamas emerge to cheers from the crowds. 15.32: The couple pop into newly opened souvenir shop "An Siopa Beag". It's raining quite heavily at this stage but US Security don't allow umbrellas. 15.37: President Obama is out of "An Siopa Beag" and on the move again back across the street to meet more locals. 15.44: President Obama poses for a quick photo with one fan as the sun comes out again. 15.45: President Obama and his wife make their way across the road to Ollie Hayes' pub. 15.47: The Presidential jeep moves back a little so it's directly adjacent to the door of Ollie Hayes' pub. 15.48: In Ollie Hayes' pub President Obama chats to local rector Stephen Neill who helped US genealogist Megan Smolenyak put the Irish pieces of President Obama's family tree puzzle together. He's joined by Shinrone rector Michael Johnston. President Obama's family line has since been traced back to its origins in Shinrone. 15.49: President Obama signs the pub's visitor book and then looks at parish record books with entries for births, marriages and deaths of his ancestors. 15.50: Michelle Obama shakes hands with some of her husband's distant Irish relatives. 15.50: Obama speaks, thanking everyone for their hard work, saying he's very grateful and that he's also looking forward to coming back to Moneygall. 15.52: Henry Healy introduces President and Michelle Obama to gathered relatives as fiddle music starts up. 15.54: President Obama gets everyone in order and poses along with his wife for a photo with their extended Irish family. 15.55: President Obama approaches the bar and meets pub owner Ollie and his wife Majella. President Obama says Majella looks beautiful, like she's going to a ball, and jokes that he suspects she doesn't always dress up as much behind the bar. 15.56: Ollie asks President Obama if he's ready for a pint of Guinness. President Obama says he's been told it matters who pours the pint and asks if people can vouch for Ollie. 15.57: Ollie vouched for and Guinness ready, President Obama says "Sláinte" and takes a hearty sup of Guinness to applause. 15.58: After checking that everyone's ok for a drink President Obama tells those gathered that the first time he tasted Guinness was in Shannon on the way to Afghanistan. He said it tastes much better here than in the States and accused Ireland of keeping all the good stuff here! 15.59: President Obama chats to pub owner Ollie Hayes and hears the history of the pub. 16.15: President Obama and his wife emerge from Ollie's and go back to shake more Moneygall hands. 16.16: Henry Healy waves to his neighbours gathered at the edge of the street. 16.17: President Obama is handed a third baby, the youngest of the three, dressed in baby blue and green. 16.21: A child in the crowd shouts out "What's the craic Barack?" and President Obama says "I love that!" in response. At this stage the time spent in Moneygall has exceeded all expectations. 16.26: President Obama signs a homemade poster saying "Fáilte Barack". 16.28: Henry Healy gets a final hug from President Obama and another from Michelle. 16.29: The Obamas give a final wave before getting into the Presidential jeep and leaving Moneygall on the same road President Obama's great great great grandfather Falmouth Kearney did in 1850. 16.30: A grinning Henry Healy is given a pat on the back by proud villagers. Barriers are moved and immediately locals break free and move across the street. 16.36: Marine One takes off with President and Michelle Obama on board.
