Two Offaly tax defaulters on latest Revenue list

A list of tax defaulters for the three month period between July 1 and September 30 last has been published by Revenue. The latest list, which details 84 settlements in all at a value of €18,945,008.05, includes two Offaly settlements with a total value of almost €200,000. Deceased draper Cora Kelly, with an address of Church Street, Clara, was included on the list for underdeclaration of income tax and VAT as a result of a Revenue audit case. A total settlement figure for the case reached €140,000, made up of €54,102 tax and €85,898 interest and penalties. Retired farmer Alan Wallace with an address of Beechill, Ballyduff, Tullamore, was also included on the list. Mr Wallace came to Revenue attention as part of a Revenue Trusts and Offshore Structure investigation case. His fine came to a total of €54,153, made up of €33,397 in tax and a further €20,756 in interest and penalties. A separate list published by Revenue includes six Offaly tax defaulters fined €2,500 or less.
