Jam packed Engineer Week for Offaly

A full week of activities has been organised for Offaly's libraries as part of the sixth annual Engineers Week. The weeklong event from February 27 to March 4 will include lectures by local engineers from Offaly County Council as well as digital game design workshops. Engineers Week has grown since its beginning in 2006, with approximately 17,000 taking part in activities nationwide last year. The event aims to create a positive awareness and spark enthusiasm about the engineering profession to people of all ages who have little or no engineering background. All eight libraries in Offaly - Banagher, Birr, Clara, Daingean, Edenderry, Ferbane, Kilcormac and Tullamore - will host at least one event over the week, with local secondary and primary schools invited to take part. Lecturer at LIT-Tipperary Philip Bourke, who acts as course coordinator for LIT-Tipperary's Games Design and Development Computing degree, will also deliver digital game design workshops over the course of the week. More information on Engineers Week is available at www.offaly.ie, on Twitter and on the Offaly Libraries Facebook page.
