Two chances to see Tullamore gospel choir in action

Tullamore's Gospel Choir has two concerts of note coming up. It will bring its unique brand of uplifting music to Kilbeggan on April 18, while Birr is the place to be to hear the choir on April 25. The choir travels the short distance to St James' Church in Kilbeggan next Wednesday for a night in aid of the inaugural Kilbeggan Festival. The festival, which takes place over the June bank holiday weekend, will celebrate the 1773 event when a knighthood was bestowed on a local hostelry owner by the King's representative. While the same man relinquished the title on request the following morning, his wife refused and retained the title of Lady Cuffe until her death nearly 40 years later. Tickets for the April 18 concert are priced €10 available from any of the festival committee in Kilbeggan. One week later, on April 25, the choir will travel to Birr for a concert in St Brendan's Church in aid of the Children of Chernobyl charity. Tickets for this concert are also just €10, and locals are urged to lend support to the cause that helps the lives of children affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Meanwhile on Easter Sunday the choir will sing at the 10pm Mass in Tullamore's Church of the Assumption, on the occasion of the ninth anniversary of the launch of the choir.
