Offaly young entrepreneurs awarded

The entrepreneurial abilities of primary school children in Offaly have been rewarded for the 14th time by Offaly County Enterprise Board (CEB) as part of its "Most Enterprising Student" initiative. This year's competition attracted entries from 27 schools around the county and over the past month business advisor with Offaly CEB Geraldine Beirne took to the roads to visit all winning schools and present awards. "The students really impressed me this year with their enthusiasm and knowledge of what it means to be an entrepreneur," Ms Beirne said. "Their ability to run a successful small business and their creativity and drive is truly inspiring." Businesses run by students include handmade cards, free range eggs, CD production, home baking, jewellery and paper briquettes. Each student who took part in the initiative received a framed certificate, book token and a prize pack. A draw for four prizes of a "Fizzbook" computer and two Easi-speak MP3 players was also made to schools in Birr, Clara, Cloghan and Edenderry. Offaly CEB has congratulated all enterprising students and has thanked all teachers, parents and principals for their involvement with and support of the scheme.
