Clara Community Action Plan - have your say!

A group of volunteers and community groups in Clara are looking for local residents to have their say on the content of a community action plan for the area in advance of it being put in place for the period up until 2015. The initiative to make Clara a better place to live began with a household survey of over 400 households. The survey provided a wealth of information on the priority issues of concern to the local community. In response, a number of projects were proposed by local volunteers and groups who have engaged in the initiative. Collectively these projects form Clara's Community Action plan which is now drafted. Local residents are now invited to have their say on the content of the plan before it is finalised. The action plan is presented under a number of headings, with some projects already complete, some underway and more requiring existing community groups or new groups of volunteers to take responsibility for them in order to make them a reality. Projects outlined within the plan come under headings including 'Children and Youth', 'Drug and Alcohol Awareness', 'Environment', 'Enterprise' and 'Tourism'. Copies of the draft action plan are now available at Clara Library, Clara Health Centre, the GP surgery, the swimming pool and Clara Community and Family Resource Centre. The deadline for feedback is Friday, July 13. The plan is also available to view at www.offalyldc.ie.
