George celebrates turning 101

George Dunne of Killurine, Killeigh, reached the grand old age of 101 last week. The centenarian's birthday fell on June 19, and he celebrated at his home surrounded by family and friends last Saturday week. George was born in Killurine on June 19, 1911. After meeting the love of his life Kitty Farrell from Cappincur, George married on September 29, 1943. The couple raised their nine children - George, Margaret, Joe, John, Oliver, Catherine, Patrick, Mary and Paul - in their home in Killurine. George worked in Williams' Carpentry in Tullamore, and later Clonad Sawmills. George lost his beloved wife Kitty in May 2011, shortly before his 100th birthday. George's hobbies during his lifetime have included fishing, shooting, boxing and tug-o-war. All the best birthday wishes were passed on to George on the occasion of his 101st birthday by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members and friends.
