Craic on the Canal

A sight rather different to the usual one awaits anyone visiting Boland's Lockhouse on the canal this Sunday afternoon. After hosting a youth arts project for the past two weeks the house will act as the stage for a new site-specific play coming from that project entitled 'Craic on the Canal'. Young actors involved in the project, which was initiated by Jasango Theatre and supported by Offaly Arts Office, include Tullamore residents aged between ten and 18. The resulting play 'Craic on the Canal' was devised under the guidance of artistic director Angela Ryan and takes the house and its surroundings as inspiration. Live music is also a feature of the project, with Attracta Brady acting as musical director of the project. 'Craic on the Canal' is set in the fictional Boland's B&B and the story revolved around the disappearance of a mysterious guest. Audience members will be invited on Sunday to solve the mystery over the course of the performance and will have access to several rooms containing stories that may or may not solve the puzzle. Cast members include Abbey Bracken, Helen Brady, Alim Hilliard Dolan, Emma Dunne, Rachael Dunne, Kotryna Kozlovskyte, Stephen Lynam, Jessica Mahon, Olivia Minnock, Colleen Mooney, Anthony O'Connor and Sean O'Toole. 'Craic on the Canal' takes place at Boland's Lock on Sunday, July 22, at 3pm. Tickets priced €5 (or €10 for a family ticket) are available by contacting 086 3638758 or jasangotheatre@gmail.com.
