Boston to Banagher storyline in new book

A soon-to-be-published book from the same publishing house as EL James' much talked about 'Fifty Shades of Grey' is set partly in Offaly, it has been revealed. Author Suzy Duffy moved to America in 2009 and is about to see her Boston-inspired novel 'Wellesley Wives' hit the bookshelves. However, this week on Twitter she revealed that the book's main protagonists Popsy and Sandra end up travelling from Boston to Banagher, where they unsurprisingly have a great time. Ms Duffy currently lives in the Boston suburb of Wellesley with her husband and five children. Her past career involved a stint with national radio station 2FM and RTÉ's The Great Giveaway Show. Before leaving Ireland she wrote four books, including 'Galway Girls', 'Wicklow Women' and 'Waterford Lass'. The Trinity graduate began writing when she had the first of her five children. 'Wellesley Wives' is her first novel to be published since moving Stateside. Ms Duffy's book focuses on the fabulously wealthy Popsy and Sandra, who then lose everything. A trip to a Banagher boathouse follows, with the two somehow ending up with jobs behind a bar. Describing Banagher to an American audience Ms Duffy says it's a crazy place where the craic is mighty. Tweeting about her book Ms Duffy described 'Wellesley Wives' as "the best thing to come out of Banagher since Barack Obama",.Wellesley Wives' from Australian based publisher The Writer's Coffee Shop Publishing House comes out on September 27 next.
