Gardai at Tullamore are investigating a fatal road traffic accident that happened this afternoon on the R420 between Tullamore and Geashill.

Gardai investigating R420 crash that left four dead

Gardai in Tullamore are continuing an investigation into a two vehicle collision on the Tullamore to Geashill Road at approximately 5.30pm last Friday, August 10 that resulted in the deaths of four men. The men, all in their 20s, were fatally injured when the car they were travelling in collided with a mini bus on the R420. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The three occupants of the mini bus were taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore with injuries described as not life threatening. On Saturday afternoon last the names of the deceased were released. They were 24 year old driver Lee Bryan from Na Cluainte in Portarlington and three brothers David Doyle (24), Darren Doyle (27) and Ryan Doyle (17) who were also from the Na Cluainte estate. Gardai are appealing for information now from anyone who may have seen a maroon Honda Civic in the Tullamore area or a white mini bus in the Portarlington area between 4pm and 5.30pm, or anyone who may have spoken with the occupants of either vehicle.
