Meeting to develop culture in Edenderry

A meeting on the topic of culture development in Edenderry will be held this evening (Thursday). Culture development can include festivals, film clubs, venues, workshops, drama, dance, music groups and more in order to create the beating heart of a town and the motivation for people to come together. Offaly arts officer Sinead O'Reilly will facilitate the meeting. Speaking last week she said there is a wealth of creative activity in Edenderry, but at the moment it seems quite disconnected. "The idea for this meeting is to bring like minded people together in conversation, to form an action plan which will develop existing activity and support new projects," she explained. The meeting is part of Offaly County Council's current Arts Plan. The council will support any action arising from it and will help forge partnerships to sustain it as best it can. If you live in Edenderry or north Offaly and have ideas, thoughts or concerns you're welcome to attend. The meeting will take place in Larkin's of Edenderry on Thursday, September 13, at 8pm. All are welcome. Enquiries can be directed towards 057 9357400 or arts@offalycoco.ie.
