"Green Initiative" award added to Chamber award line-up
A new "Green Initiative" award is to be added to this year's Tullamore Chamber Awards. The award, added to highlight the work local companies are doing to become sustainable and reduce waste, is one of eight that will be handed out at a ceremony in Tullamore on December 7. Applications for the fourth annual awards are now being welcomed, with application forms and information available at www.tullamorechamber.ie. Award categories at this year's Tullamore Chamber Awards include Industry, Best Cultural Tourism, Retail Excellence, Business Initiative, Emerging New Business, Green Initiative Award, Business Person of the Year and Community Achievement. Chairman of the awards committee Dominic Doheny outlined the competition's rules. "The competition is open to all, Chamber members and non Chamber members," he said. "Companies can nominate other companies or nominate themselves. The entry process is simple, all we need to know is who you would like to nominate and why." The year award categories have been aligned with the MidlandsIreland.ie awards, so finalists and winners will automatically be eligible to enter the regional competition in mid 2013. President of Tullamore Chamber Anne Starling said the upcoming awards aim "to recognise and promote excellence and innovation in the local business community". An independent judging panel will adjudicate all entries and decide on finalists and winners in each category. Finalists will be publicly announced the week before the awards ceremony, with the overall winner in each category revealed at the Tullamore Chamber Awards in the Tullamore Court Hotel on Friday, December 7. Award criteria and nomination forms are available now from www.tullamroechamber.com. Nominations will be accepted via email to info@tullamorechamber.com or via post to Tullamore and District Chamber, Market Square Suites, Market Square, Tullamore until 5pm on Friday, November 16. Tickets for the December 7 ceremony are on sale now at a cost of €45 and can be reserved by emailing info@tullamorechamber.com.
