Crew, cast and location sought for 2013 production

The 2012 Film Offaly winner has this week put out a call for a location, local crew, cast and extras. "Men and Women" is based on the award winning short story by Claire Keegan and will be directed by IFTA nominee Ruth Meehan. Shooting on the film will begin in early 2013, while auditions are set to take place on December 6 and 7 for lead and supporting roles. "Men and Women" follows a young girl over her ninth Christmas, as her loss of innocence is reflected in her realisation that neither Santa nor relations between her parents are what they seem. Roles up for grabs include that of a girl aged ten to twelve; Seamus, who is between 14 and 16; Mary Sutton who is also between 14 and 16; a mother in her 40s or 50s; a sheep dealer in his 60s and a showband. Anyone interested in going forward for audition should forward a CV or biography to the production team at menandwomen@ink-and-light.com by December 4. In addition actors should forward a headshot. A suitable house for shooting is also being sought. An old house with a farm on a hill with a long drive way and a gate is specifically sought. The house should be an old period house with either one or two storeys. The house should not have been updated or refurbished as it needs to look as if it's seen better days. The house should be pre-1950s, but can be as early as 1800s. There should also be farm sheds near the house. The production team are ideally looking for a location house in the Birr area, but have said they're also open to other locations. An old VW Beetle for use in the film is also sought, preferably blue or a dark colour. Anyone who can help with either a location or a VW Beetle for the film can contact Film Offaly at arts@offalycoco.ie or call 057 9357400.
