Rocks thrown at patrol car as raiders make off after off-licence raid

Raiders made off with a large amount of cigarettes and a small amount of cash after raiding an Edenderry off-licence and throwing rocks at a garda patrol car in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday). Sergeant Kevin Quinn from Edenderry garda station said the incident took place at approximately 3.50am at an off-licence on JKL Street. He's appealing for information from the public now to aid gardaí in their investigation. Sgt Quinn said three men and a silver Audi car were involved in the raid. The three threw rocks at the Edenderry garda patrol car that attended the scene, he said, and then left in the direction of Kinnegad. Gardaí followed for some time, but the lights of the Audi they were pursuing were turned off intermittently and they lost pursuit. Sgt Quinn said CCTV is being checked as part of the investigation. However he appealed for anyone in the JKL St area of Edenderry last night who saw a suspicious car or witnessed suspicious behaviour to contact them on 046 9731290.
