St Colmcille's Pipe Band will entertain rail passengers at Tullamore.

Offaly celebrates National Music Day

Edenderry will host a music marathon, Tullamore will see a platform performance at its train station and even patients at Tullamore hospital won’t have to go without some musical entertainment this Friday, June 21 as Offaly joins in National Music Day.

From 1pm until 8pm on Friday the Edenderry Music Marathon will run at Public Access Arts on JKL Street in Edenderry.

Everyone is invited to call by and listen to a range of emerging and professional musicians throughout the day including Troy O’Brien at noon, Orin Tulie on acoustic guitar at 1pm, Edenderry Boys School Band at 2pm, guitarist Lloyd Mulligan at 4pm, Eden Chorale at 6pm, saxophonist Bob Batty at 7pm and Fergus Conaghan on oboe and other performers at 8pm.

In Tullamore singer and guitarist Richard Brennan will entertain at Tullamore library between 1pm and 2pm.

At 6pm St Colmcille’s Pipe Band - the 2013 British Pipe Champions - will serenade Irish Rail passengers as they embark and disembark at Tullamore train station.

From 7pm Tullamore Cantori Choir will sing for patients, staff and visitors alike in the lobby of Tullamore hospital.

Comhaltas groups will play from 6pm to 8pm in Edenderry library, from 9pm to 11pm in Rahan parish hall, from 8pm to 9pm in Green Street in Birr and from 9pm until midnight in Killeen’s Bar in Rhode.
