Production wrapped on Offaly film
“A Nightingale Falling” has wrapped production in Daingean.
The film has been shooting in the Offaly town as well as at Mount Lucas and Tyrellspass for the last three weeks.
Produced by Offaly based company Mixed Bag Media, “A Nightingale Falling” combines the efforts of a professional crew and many skilled workers who for the first time are making the transition into film.
It’s hoped the film will be completed in early 2014.
“A Nightingale Falling” boasts an impressive cast and stars Tara Breathnach, Muireann Bird and Gerard McCarthy, who was most recently seen in the hugely successful BBC series “The Fall”.
Other cast members include Andy Kellegher (Game of Thrones), Rose Henderson (Fair City), Brian Fortune (Game of Thrones) and Elliot Moriarty (The Tudors).
A number of Daingean natives will also star in the film, including Martin McCourtney, Paul Keating, Jamie Nolan and Pat McEvoy.
The film is a story set in 1920 of a household and its inhabitants caught in the crucible of the merciless politics, cruelties and hardships of the period. It is also a story of love, and the dark secrets that lead to broken hearts.
“The experience has been wonderful,” director Garret Daly of Mixed Bag Media said.
“So many people have helped us along the road and we think that there is now a wonderful film in the can. It is all down to the wonderful cast, crew and volunteers that made this journey possible.”
