Offaly's Wayne Brennan wins 2nd Sean McCarthy award in 2 years
Offaly singer songwriter Wayne Brennan has added another notch to his award belt by winning first place at the Sean McCarthy ballad contest in Listowel for the second year in a row.
Wayne won the contest – the 18th in its history - this month with the song “The Space Between the Thunder”.
The competition had a huge number of entries from all over Ireland, which were whittled down to twelve for the final last Saturday night.
Wayne is currently based in London to further his music career, but had no second thoughts when it came to flying back for final night. The night was opened by Arts Minister Jimmy Deenihan before he gave way to an evening of original Irish composition.
Last weekend’s win is Wayne’s fourth award in the past year for songwriting. His highly anticipated second studio album is due for release early next year, while more information on the singer can be found in the meantime by visiting www.waynebrennan.com.
