New jobs at Condron Concrete
Staff numbers at Tullamore company Condron Concrete are set to increase by almost 40 per cent within weeks.
The company announced this week that an additional 20 staff are to be added to more than 50 current staff members at the manufacturing company, in order to add plastic piping to its line-up that already includes concrete tiles and pipes.
“We’re going to be recruiting straight away,” Condron Concrete MD John Condron told the Offaly Independent, adding that production of the new plastic pipes will take place in the company’s Tullamore factory on the Arden Road from October.
Those applying for the new jobs don’t have to have any skills specific to manufacturing plastic piping either, Mr Condron said, as training will be given.
Mr Condron said the move has been prompted by a changing market.
“People are going to plastic for smaller diameter pipes because they’re quicker to put in,” he explained. “So we’re diversifying. It’s a good news story for Tullamore.”
Condron Concrete has been in business since 1969, when it was set up by the current MD’s father, also John Condron.
Mr Condron said this week’s news is “only the beginning” and that it’s hoped staff numbers will be increased again over the next number of years.
