Back to school time harder on parents than kids according to research

Parents in Leinster seem to be having a tougher time coping with the new school year than their offspring, according to new research by Kellogg’s.

The new data shows that while 47 per cent of parents in the province find it difficult to get back into a school routine and a third hit the snooze button more often in September, over two-thirds of the same parents say their children actually look forward to back to school time.

A total of 56 per cent of parents surveyed remember looking forward to the new school year themselves as children, with 86 per cent saying they remember looking forward to seeing friends after a long break even if school itself wasn’t at the top of their list.

Back to school isn’t without upsets for children however, as 22 per cent of parents surveyed reported back to school tears.

In good news for cereal makers, the research showed that a whopping nine out of every ten households consume breakfast before going to school.

Children from one house in every 100 will set off after a fry-up, it also showed.
