Gardai renew witness appeal

Gardai in Tullamore have renewed an appeal for witnesses to a crash in the town involving a car and a pedestrian in the early hours of last Saturday morning.

The incident, in which a male pedestrian was struck by a car, took place at approximately 4am on Church Road in Tullamore.

Speaking to the Offaly Independent Sergeant Ollie Baker of Tullamore Garda Station confirmed that the pedestrian struck in the accident is 21-year-old musician Arthur Stones from Edenderry.

He was immediately taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore following the collision, but was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where his condition has been described as critical. The driver of the car was uninjured in the incident.

Church Road in Tullamore was closed and diversions put in place pending the completion of an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators. The road re-opened on Saturday afternoon however.
