HMV Tullamore opens this week

Popular retailer HMV is to open in Tullamore next Saturday, October 19, the Offaly Independent can reveal. The new store will be a HMV/Xtra-vision dual branded store, and will occupy the same space as Xtra-vision currently does on Main Street.

The new store is one of 28 dual branded stores that are to open around the country according Hilco Capital, the company behind both HMV and Xtra-vision. Eleven stores are to open next Saturday, with a further 17 to open over the coming weeks.

Other stores to open around the country this weekend include Portlaoise, Drogheda, Navan, Wicklow, Greystones, Nenagh, Thurles, Newbridge, Carlow and Wexford.

The new stores will offer an extensive range of movies to buy and rent, as well as retailing a wide selection of music, games and technology.

Speaking ahead of the opening CEO of Hilco Capital Ireland Larry Howard said the move is an exciting one.

“Integrating HMV with Xtra-vision is a very exciting way of bringing the HMV brand into towns all over Ireland,” he said.

“Most of these towns have never had a HMV store located in close proximity, and Hilco is looking forward to delivering the HMV experience to these locations. We hope the midlands welcome and embrace the new Xtra-vision/HMV stores in Portlaoise and Tullamore.”

To celebrate the official opening on Saturday the Tullamore store will be offering “Door Buster Deals” on a first come first served basis including blu-ray players for €9.99, games consoles from €150, new release music from €7.99, movies from €2.99 and new release games from €29.99.

Everyone who visits on the day will also be automatically entered into a draw to win an Xtra-vision/HMV goodie bag, featuring a selection of top music, DVD and games releases.
