Six more acts announced for Castlepalooza

Another six acts have today (Tuesday) been confirmed for Castlepalooza.

The six new names will join 68 acts already announced for the festival that takes place at Charleville Castle over the August bank holiday weekend.

Today’s announcement includes Synaesthete, Leni Morrison, Dear Desert, Sam Evans and The Jammerz and Alphabetical, as well as headliner Onra.

Onra is Arnaud Bernard, a French hip-hop beatmaker based in Paris. Two years ago he released his most recent LP 'Chinoiseries, Pt 2’, a follow up to 2007’s 'Chinoiseries’. Orna’s music is a sample-heavy fusion of his own hip-hop beats and pop music from his ancestral homeland of Vietnam. Live, he’s known as an energetic and tireless performer.

Synaesthete is the project created by Sarah Tanat Jones named after her own condition, synaesthesia - constant source of inspiration throughout her life. Sarah’s taken her love of rhythm and her sweet, clear vocals to new places. This time, she’s got a battery of percussion, synths and drum machines to help her out and has written, produced and recorded a four track EP 'Earth & Air’ with an album in the works.

Leni Morrison likes to merge soulful and emotive songs with elements of blues, rock, pop, fairy-tale/folk, voodoo and adventure. Her unique blue-eyed soulful voice, coupled with her quirky style of combining poetry and music find her favourably compared to Chrissie Hynde, Marianne Faithful and Patti Smith. She is just back from recording her debut EP in LA, and plans to release 'Dance with Diamonds’ later this year. This emerging talent is sure to leave you mesmerized and bewitched.

Dublin based trio, Dear Desert, formed in 2013 through a shared musical interest in soulful, emotive pop. The band honed their sound through a series of low-fi home recordings, which informs the textured, electronic soundscape and intimate vocals. Mixing driving rhythms, expansive synths and emotive pop melodies, Dear Desert create an atmosphere of brewing tension and hopeful longing.

Sam Evans and The Jammerz is a 19-year-old singer/songwriter/musician based near Bath in the UK. Largely a self-taught guitarist and gifted pianist, Sam has performed his unique and original compositions at music venues across the UK, Ireland, Romania and Holland. With crowd-pleasing performances Sam plays an incredible jazzy, urban vibe that you just have to move to. With quirky vocals that blend jazz, soul, funk and reggae the lyrical complexity of Sam’s work make for an intriguingly different sound experience and has a rare quality only fully experienced by hearing it played “live” - he is a must see at Castlepalooza 2014.
