Bord na mona appoints new md

A former engineer with Apple computers has been appointed as Bord na
Móna's new Managing Director.

Mike Quinn will take up the over the post of Managing Director on
January 2, 2015. He takes over from Gabriel D'Arcy, who has served in
the role since February 2008.

Mr Quinn joins Bord na Móna from Precision Castparts Corp (PCC), where
he has worked for the last ten years as Vice President of a worldwide
group of five companies.

Prior to joining PCC Mr Quinn held various senior management positions
in Tellabs, Stryker and Lufthansa Tecknik. He spent the earlier part
of his career working in engineering roles with Amdahl Ireland and
Apple computers.

Bord na Móna chairman, Mr John Horgan said “the Board is delighted to
welcome someone of Mike’s calibre to the company as he brings with him
a wealth of domestic and international leadership and business
experience, gained across a number of different industries.'

“I have every confidence that Mike will successfully lead the company
and drive its growth and development strategy in the months and years
ahead,” Mr Horgan added.

Mr Quinn holds a degree in Physics and Electronics from DCU and a
postgraduate qualification in Project Management from UL. He studied
advanced Leadership programmes at both Cranfield University and the
Ross school of Business in the University of Michigan.
