Artist paints moving tribute of young football star

An Offaly artist has painted a moving tribute to the late Adam Mangan from Kilclonfert.

Artist Orla Brennan, who specialises in memorials, was asked to do the painting by a friend of the Mangan family. The painting was based on a photo taken of rising GAA star Adam after St Vincent’s won last year’s county U21 Football Championship, a victory that he played a central role in.

“Adam is going up to a collect a medal. It’s a fitting piece as I was told that this was a common pose for him, to have that hand up,” Orla told the Offaly Independent.

University of Limerick student Adam (19) passed away in October from injuries sustained in a farming accident at his home in Kilclonfert.
