Offaly Roses enjoy day out

For the third year running the Offaly Rose Centre organised a Rose Day Out with the 2017 contestants joining the current Offaly Rose Emma Kirwan for a day of activities across the county.

The girls were blessed with the weather as the sun was out from start to finish. It was an early departure from Tullamore heading straight to Aspire – Advanced Sports Performance Ireland where owner Joseph Quinn and 2015 Rose of Tralee escort Conor Sheridan put the girls through their paces with some team building activities and  fun run/muck run!

Next stop Baggot’s at The Back Door in Clara where the girls were treated to a delicious lunch, where the hospitality was top notch. On departure the girls even welcomed bride to be Deirdre O’Keefe to the church in Clara on her wedding day.

Following this, they spent some time with the staff and residents of Esker Rí Nursing Home. The girls laughed, joked and chatted with all the residents.
Before they left the roses presented the staff and residents with a cake and sweets as they are celebrating their third birthday very soon.

To finish off the tour ‘give every woman her DEW’ the girls enjoyed a guided tour of the Tullamore Dew Distillery, which was topped off with some fine whiskey tasting and cocktail making hosted by master of ceremonies, Kevin Pigott.

The tour is part of the build-up and preparation for this year’s Offaly Rose selection night on Saturday, May 6 in the Bridge House Hotel. The Rose Centre is still taking applications.
