Tullamore eligible for funding boost

Tullamore is one of some 46 urban areas in Ireland eligible to apply for funds from a €4bn Urban Regeneration and Development Fund announced this week.

Deputy Marcella Corcoran Kennedy has said it is essential that Offaly Count Council and community groups subject projecting for financial approval under the Project Ireland 2040 Funds initiative. 

The funding breakdown is: €2bn for urban regeneration, €1bn for the Rural Development Fund, €500m climate action fund and €500m disruptive technologies fund

“This funding is great news for Tullamore and for the wider county,” Deputy Corcoran Kennedy said. 

The primary purpose of the €2 billion fund is to secure compact, sustainable growth in urban centres

“This is part of a longer term plan which delivers the resources to make our new planning framework come alive,” the Offaly Fine Gael TD indicated.
