Money is funny in new Banagher drama

After months of rehearsals the curtain raised last night (Thursday November 29) on Banagher Drama Group's latest production, 'Funny Money'.

A two-act comedy written by English playwright Ray Cooney, 'Funny Money' is an action filled farce set during a winter's evening in the London living room of Henry and Jean Perkins.

Jean has spent the day preparing a special birthday dinner for Henry and their closest friends. The normally predictable bank clerk Henry is late and the play opens with Jean in a concerned state awaiting his arrival home from work.

He reveals that as he was getting off the Tube he picked up the wrong briefcase, a briefcase full of £50 notes amounting to £735,000.

As the story unfolds, the audience is introduced to a motley crew of characters, some of whom are very eager for Henry and Jean to part with their new found wealth.

The drama group is especially pleased to welcome back Mairead Devery and Paul Moore', as well as long standing actors, Jared Madden, Lorraine Hogan and Kevin Lynch. A special welcome is extended to new members of the cast who are making their debut, Sean Dolan, Donie Moran and Vinnie Fennell. The play is directed by Marita Fogarty .

'Funny Money' runs at St Rynagh's College of Further Education on Dec 1, Dec2, Dec 6 and Dec 7. Don’t miss out!
