Castlepalooza to take a break

The popular music festival Castlepalooza will not take place in Tullamore this year, organisers have confirmed.

In a digital media post, organisers said the festival is taking a break in 2019.

“We are taking the time out to create a completely new spin on the music festival formula and will be back with a reimagined Castlepalooza.”

The boutique music and arts festival, based in Tullamore's Charleville Castle, has been underway since 2006, and has generally taken place over the August bank holiday weekend.

It has rapidly become one of the most popular summer festivals in the midlands and in recent years has attracted up to 5,000 festivalgoers to the town each year.

Previously described by Hot Press as a “bite-sized Electric Picnic” the festival focuses on newer Irish acts and a smaller capacity.
