Two way traffic returns to High Street

High Street will have two way traffic for the first time in months this weekend.

Work on the €3m facelift to the centre of the town had fallen a few days behind the schedule given to councillors at the October meeting of Tullamore Municipal District, but in a statement issued to the Offaly Independent on Thursday the council revealed that the works on High Street are “all but complete”.

“The street will be back to two way operation this weekend. Work at Harbour St junction will be completed tomorrow (Friday) and the end of November remains the target date for completion of  Columcille St to the Harbour St junction. Work will commence next week on the northern side of O’Connor Square with the new road in the square being opened.”

The town enhancement works are set to be suspended for the month of December.
