Tenders sought for €9.5m housing project

Housing agency Oaklee Housing is seeking tenders for the construction of a €9.5m social housing project in Tullamore.

The plans involves the construction of 41 social housing units at Kearney's Field, a key piece of central Tullamore land, between Arden Heights and Arden View.

The site, was previously owned by Offaly County Council, and the council in conjunction with Oaklee Housing, last year put the plan for the project out for public consultation.
The proposed development on the Clara Road in Tullamore, will accommodate up to 170 people in a mix of one to four bedroom general needs homes, including two wheelchair accessible houses.


The 41 units include, two four-bed two-storey units; 22 three-bed two-storey units; five two-bed two-storey units; eight two-bed single storey units; and four one- bed single storey units, and all associated site works is earmarked for the social housing project.
To finance the development, the project is funded through the Housing Finance Agency, the Capital Advance Leasing Facility (CALF) and with the support of Offaly County Council.


The closing date for receipt of tenders is March 2. 

When commenced construction is expected to take 18 months. It is expected to accommodate 170 people.
