A portion of a popular Tullamore pub premises could be altered to make way for eight self-contained short-let accommodation units, should a new planning application progress.
Emmet Lynch has applied for a change of use and an extension at first-floor level at Hugh Lynch's pub in Kilbride Street. The application, submitted to Offaly County Council on September 10 last, covers a change from existing licensed bar facilities on the first-floor to accommodate eight self-contained units accessed from an existing entrance on St Kyran's Street.
In addition, extra windows would be introduced, bicycle storage facilities at ground floor level, solar glazing panels at roof level and street storage.
A decision on the plans for the pub which is a protected structure is expected by November 4 next.
