Texas Tom is back!

After an absence of 13 years, the retail landscape in Tullamore is set for a major shake-up with the opening this morning (Monday) of the iconic Texas department store on William Street.

The landmark store is due to officially open at 12 noon, on the exact same site where huge crowds converged in 2007 for the opening of the very first Texas department store in Offaly's capital town.

The official opening follows hot on the heels of the launch of the Texas website, www.texastom.ie which went live at 12 midnight last night, and where customers can avail of free next day delivery on all online orders over €49.

The new store has over 100,000 pieces in stock for men, women and children but, as of yet, they have not incorporated a homeware department into their new enterprise.

The man behind the Texas brand, Tom McNamara, known as "Texas Tom" said he is looking forward to welcoming "new and old friends into our new store and on our online website" and has assured customers that all Covid-19 restrictions will be in place in the William Street shop for the safety of staff and customers alike.

Among the measures which have been put in place are limits on the number of customers in the store at any one time to comply with social distancing guidelines; the mandatory wearing of face masks, the closure of dressing rooms and the installation of hand sanitisation stations throughout the store.

The iconic Texas Tom brand is known the length and breadth of Ireland, so no doubt the re-opening of the flagship store on William Street at noon today will be eagerly anticipated and warmly welcomed at a time when Covid-19 has presented huge challenges for the retail sector right across the world.
