Offline Film Festival and I-LOFAR share informative science fiction discussion

Offline Film Festival, based in Birr, has released a panel discussion on the topic of ‘Science in the Movies – Fact vs Fiction’ to coincide with Science Week.

The discussion was held last month as part of Space Week with I-LOFAR, the Irish contingent of an international network of state-of-the-art telescopes, also based in Birr.

Hosted by Áine Flood from I-LOFAR, and including three astrophysics researchers, Dr Oisin Creaner, Dr Laura Hayes and Pearse Murphy, the talk delves into the good, the bad and the shockingly disastrous scenes of our favourite science fiction films, ranging from ‘Sunshine’ starring Irish actor Cillian Murphy to 1998’s ‘Deep Impact.’

The discussion can be viewed here.
