Tullamore family appears on RTE Home Rescue series tonight

Home Rescue this week features Tullamore's Carol Scott who lives with her 16-year-old daughter Moira, diagnosed with autism in sixth class.

Home Rescue will be broadcast tonight at 7pm tonight on RTE One.

Moira excels in her favourite sports but her training regime, and Carol’s part time job as a public health nurse, leaves no time to tidy or organise their home.

Upstairs, their ‘toy room’ is heaving with clothes and clutter, while Carol’s bedroom – dominated by giant bed – gives Carol no space to relax or meditate.

Enter: Róisín with a plan to create an innovative ‘she-shed’ for Moira’s extensive collection of sports gear and turn Carol’s bedroom into a ‘five-star hotel room’. No easy task, especially when builder Peter uncovers badly damaged floors and a hidden chimney breast.

Coming to terms with the past turns out to be an emotional rollercoaster for Carol as the clear-out reveals all kinds of hidden treasures, including memories of life before Moira’s diagnosis.

Meanwhile, Róisín’s vision of a dramatic dark colour scheme and an elaborate wall panel doesn’t go down well with her trusty builder. With extensive storage units to build from scratch and the completion deadline approaching fast, Peter’s strict rules on quality control leaves Róisín wishing her builder wasn’t quite so good at his job!

There’ll be no half measures here – just double the pressure!
