Man in his 60s dies in road tragedy near Offaly-Kildare border

A pedestrian in his 60s died when he was hit by an articulated lorry near the Offaly-Kildare border yesterday (Thursday) morning.

The Garda Press Office said the tragic incident occurred outside a business premises in Carbury, County Kildare, at 7.15am.

The collision involved a male pedestrian in his 60s and an articulated lorry. The man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The body of the deceased was taken to the local Morgue where a post-mortem is due to take place at a later date. The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

Forensic Collision Investigators have concluded their examination of the scene and the area had fully re-opened by yesterday evening, the Garda Press Office said.
