Bursary success for Edenderry student

Management and staff at Oaklands Community College in Edenderry were delighted this week to receive news that Leaving Certificate student Tom Mangan is among one of the two students to receive the 2021 Pat Jones Student Bursary Award from Croí Laighean Credit Union.

Tom received delivery of his Croí Laighean Credit Union Box containing the news that he was a successful recipient of this year’s Bursary on Friday, April 30th.

As one of the two overall winners in this year’s award Tom will receive €6,000 towards his third-level education over the course of three years.

The Pat Jones Bursary, currently in its ninth year, supports students on their third-level journey. Mr Jones, who was a former chair of the Credit Union’s Board Oversight Committee, sadly passed away in 2012. To honour his memory, and his appreciation and value for education, the bursary was introduced in 2013.

The management and staff of Oaklands Community College are very proud of Tom and his success in this year’s bursary award, following on in the footsteps of past pupil Leanne Mallen, who was also a recipient of the bursary last year.
