Local youth club collects 25 bags of litter!

Rath Eglish Foróige Club was delighted to kick off the May Bank Holiday weekend with a litter pick around the village. After several months of online club, there was great enthusiasm to get outside together in small groups.

With the sun shining on Saturday morning, the members collected 25 bags of litter. Unfortunately, this is only the tip of the iceberg as substantial volumes of litter, including domestic dumping were found on all approach roads. Adding a new dimension to litter collection, the openlittermap app was used to record the quantity, type, and to map the litter. It is intended to organise another pick later in the year.

Every good deed deserves to be rewarded and it came in the form of outdoor movies on Saturday and Sunday night which were greatly enjoyed by the members. Many thanks to everyone in the community that supported the club in the running of these events over the weekend and to Offaly County Council for supporting the litter pick.
