Heritage walks series in Clara announced

Clara Heritage Group has announced a series of heritage walks for the summer period.

Learn about the town and surrounding areas and have a wander at the same time!

The first walk to mark the Solstice will take place at Tony's Hill, a short walking trail just beyond Clara Bog will run from 6.30pm to 9.30pm and will feature an evening of music, storytelling and some activities for children. Light refreshments will be available.

Covid Protocols will be adhered to during the event. Please check our Facebook page for further details.

Sunday, June 20th

Tony’s Hill: Summer Solstice event, arrive at your leisure between 7pm & 9 pm, an evening of entertainment, tea will be served. (Wheelchair friendly).

Thursday, July 1st

Meet at Ashfield car park at 7pm proceeding to the Mass Rock, around by the old famine way and back to Ashfield.

Friday, July 16th

Meeting at Erry Way, New Road, Clara walking across the Erry Way.

Thursday, July 29th

Meeting at Clara Library at 7pm walking up the New Road and across Errymarborough through the Ballinough hill and back to the library.

Friday, August 13th - Eve of Heritage Week

Meeting at Ashfield at 7 pm walking across the Doory Loop/ Famine village.

Saturday, August 21st

Meeting at Clara library at 7pm, river walk and poetry recital. Wheelchair-friendly to poetry recital.

Thursday, August 26th

Meeting at The Fair Green at 7pm. Architectural town walk. Wheelchair friendly.

National Walking Day

A midday walk. Location to be decided.
