Shishir Restaurant receives Business Champion Award at Community Recognition Awards

Shishir Restaurant in Tullamore has won the Business Champion Award at the Offaly Community Recognition Awards.

The awards, hosted by Offaly County Council in partnership with Offaly Independent, aim to acknowledge the outstanding community efforts that individuals and groups have delivered in Offaly over the past year.

The restaurant and its owner, Asad Mahmud Khondkar, offered food to those who were struggling financially during lockdown and to those who were vulnerable.

Asad said that the restaurant is continuing to feed about 25 families a week in the area.

The restaurant is currently trading as a takeaway, but hopes to reopen its doors in the coming weeks.

Runner up for the award was The Square Café, Tullamore.
