Ferbane singer/songwriter Luz Corrigan

Local singer delighted with "Love Island" exposure

Longford may lay claim to Maura Higgins, but Offaly has it's very own "Love Island" star after 20-year old Ferbane singer/songwriter, Luz Corrigan, had one of her songs featured on the hit show last night (Sunday) which has an audience of 2.6 million people in the UK alone!

A delighted Luz took to Twitter immediately after last night's episode aired on Virgin Media and described it as "mad" hearing a clip of her self-penned song 'The Author' on the hugely-popular reality TV show.

Hailed as one of the most exciting new voices to emerge on the Irish music scene in recent years, the talented singer/songwriter has released a number of singles which have been very well received within the music industry and by her ever-growing and loyal fan base.

The daughter of Argentinian-born, Karina Gaetani and her husband, Tommy Corrigan, who own Ballyshiel Artisan Foods in Ferbane, Luz Corrigan cut her teeth in the music industry by posting anonymous music videos from the bedroom of her home in Ferbane at the tender age of 16.

The enterprising young artist has a new single "Counting Houses" available for pre-order at the moment, and her legion of fans are hoping that she can follow in the footsteps of another up and coming young Irish singer, Lyra, whose song "Falling" became an instant hit after it featured in an episode of the last "Love Island" series.
