Offaly kayaker taking part in European Canoe Polo Championships

A Mountbolus teenager will represent Ireland in the European Canoe Polo Championships in Sicily this week,

Owen Bracken (19) has been kayaking since he was just eight, and has been playing canoe polo for the last five years.

He is a member of Kilcock Canoe polo club and he travels to the Kildare venue twice a week for training. Earlier this year, he successfully won his place on the Irish Mens U21 canoe polo team and will be donning the green singlet to represent Ireland this week.

There are teams from 14 countries taking part in the championships and the Irish team are up against Germany, the current World Champions in their group.
