Niall de Búrca’s World Tales - online story-telling with Offaly Libraries

Grab your seat and hang on tight! Offaly Libraries present renowned story-teller Niall de Búrca in a special Zoom event as part of our Children’s Book Festival (CBF) Programme.

More dangerous than The Pied Piper, ‘Niall de Búrca’s World Tales’ will take you on a rollercoaster ride of the imagination, as you join him for an incredible range of stories from all over the world.

Raised in the west of Ireland, Niall has performed on six continents. Using his voice with a craftsman’s skill, Niall shares great tales with tremendous energy, judgement and superb timing.

To quote the Vienna Review of Books: ‘His ability to evoke a wide range of emotions from his rapt audiences enables him to bewitch people with his stories and makes listening to him as well as watching him an unforgettable experience.’

Niall’s motto is ‘Níor bhris focal maith fiacal riamh’ (a good word never broke a tooth).

This is a family event for age six and upwards, via Zoom on Wednesday October 27 at 6.30pm – booking is essential, and children have to be supervised by an adult during the event.

Offaly Libraries is celebrating CBF with an array of events and activities, part funded by Creative Ireland.

The festival aims to encourage children to enjoy the experience of reading and support their reading development.

Ongoing are the Offaly Libraries Children’s Book Festival Costume Competition, the Shocktober Colouring Competition, Crafty Takeaway: craft projects in a bag (while stocks last) and a selection of pre-recorded story readings by library staff via our Facebook page.
