The Tullamore Lions Club annual.

Tullamore Lions Club annual goes on sale this weekend

The 10th Anniversary edition of the Tullamore Lions Club Annual goes on sale this weekend at the two-day “Tullamore This Christmas” event in O’Connor Square.

The annual, which is priced at €15, features a whole host of interesting articles, interviews and photographs encapsulating all the major events which took place across Offaly over the past year.

Also included in the 10th edition are a number of historical articles including the memoir of a former employee of Tullamore Bacon Factory which features a photograph of former President, Mary Robinson, holding a handful of sausages and a selection of articles from Paula Nolan’s “Humans of Offaly” series.

Offaly had many major sporting achievements over the past year, not least the wonderful U20 footballers All-Ireland win, and the participation of a number of local athletes at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, all of which feature in the Annual.

The Lions Club Annual, which was the brainchild of Lions member and proprietor of the Brewery Tap, Paul Bell, is now the main fundraising vehicle for Tullamore Lions Club, and the Honorary Editor of this year’s production is Frank Ryan, with Denis Doherty and Larry Fleming working as Assistant Honorary Editors.

Denis Doherty described the annual as “the main source of income” for Tullamore Lions Club and he paid tribute to the many advertisers who have come on board with the production over the past decade and who provide a “very important revenue stream” for the Club.

The Lions Club is currently engaged in its biggest fundraising event to date with its “Hooves4Hospice” campaign, but Mr Doherty points out that they also provide much-needed financial assistance to local individuals and organisations throughout the year.

They also play an important role in getting local community projects underway, with their latest achievement being the official opening of a Basketball Court in the grounds of Tullamore Town Park, which was a collaborative project with Offaly County Council.Lions Club Annual goes on sale this weekend

The latest edition of the much-loved Lions Club Annual will be on sale throughout this weekend at the “Tullamore This Christmas” two-day event in O’Connor Square, and will also be on sale in all local shops in the run-up to Christmas.
